After the landing of Philae on the comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko a crowdfunding campaign was initiated to recognise Matt Taylor's work as project scientist for the European Space Agency’s Rosetta mission. The campaign raised 24 000 US dollars, more than the initial target of 3000 USD. Some of this money will go to create a plaque commemorating the achievements of the Rosetta team, and Matt Taylor has decided to donate the remaining amount (23 000 USD) to Universe Awareness (UNAWE).
UNAWE will work closely with ESA in the organisation of a teacher training workshop during 2015 at Leiden University and ESA’s European Space Research and Technology Centre in the Netherlands. This workshop will be focused on primary education, with an emphasis on the Rosetta mission and results. The funds donated will be used to support the participation of educators from the extensive UNAWE network to the training event.
