UNAWE’s International Project Manager Pedro Russo was interviewed in one of the last World Changer Podcast Sessions, a series of podcasts about people that make a change in this world. Pedro talked about his motivation, his goals and the challenges he faces managing Universe Awareness. World Changer Sessions is an initiative that connects its audience with people that inspire, help and connect communities. It makes podcasts and blogs about ‘the most forward-thinking, big-hearted, conscious individuals who are pioneering positive developments in technology, society, food production, education and more.’ Being the driving force behind UNAWE and previously the successful International Year of Astronomy 2009—both connecting, inspiring and forward-thinking projects—Pedro fits right in there. "I remember the first time that I saw the inspiring potential of astronomy,’ says Pedro during his interview. "I gave a talk at a primary school in my home town and saw the smiles and sparkling eyes of these kids. That was the moment I knew we have a great inspiring tool in our hands as astronomers." Pedro emphasises the importance of working together, with people that are motivated and genuinely nice. "You need to be honestly nice with people. I’ve seen that when you work together with pleasant people, you can achieve so much more. I have had the pleasure to work with amazing really nice hard-working colleagues and friends, and that made a huge difference."
