With almost 20,000 EU-UNAWE Cosmos in your Pocket activity books being shipped to kids around the world, you need never hear those two dreaded words again: “I'm bored!”
Cardiff University's School of Physics (Wales, UK) in collaboration with the Institute of Physics, have printed 6000 English-language copies of EU-UNAWE's Cosmos in your Pocket for distribution around the UK. During the Cardiff Science Festival 300 were given away to families, 550 have been sent to schools around the Cardiff and Bristol areas, and 150 were sent to Zambia as part of the Mothers of Africa project.
The other 19,000 were printed by EU-UNAWE and are now on their way to happy new homes all over the world. The books are available in 17 different languages, thanks our fantastic group of voluntary, Space Scoop translators, and will be distributed to children in schools and science centres, during science fairs, astronomy events and planetarium shows. Just like it says on the box (well, cover) this little book fits right in your pocket, so you can take it anywhere: use it on long train rides, in the classroom, at a restaurant or in the park! There are loads of creative, artsy activities all related to our night sky; design your own constellations, write an ode to your favourite planet or draw a portrait of the Moon. Alternately, just learn some fun facts about the Universe that will impress your friends!
