How do you imagine the future of human space travel? Do you see us zooming around the galaxy in spaceships, living on other bodies of the Solar System or maybe floating around Earth in hundreds of space stations? Young people aged between 10 and 18 years are being challenged to take part in the Humans in Space Youth Art Competition and show the world how they imagine humans will explore space in the future.
The competition is designed to inspire the next generation of potential scientists, engineers and astronauts to take an interest in, and support, spaceflight, so we can start planning for the future today. Using any genre of artwork, including visual art, literature, music or video, contestants will creatively express their thoughts on the theme: how will humans use science and technology to explore space, and what mysteries will we uncover?
The entries will be judged by an international panel of artists, scientists, teachers, engineers and astronauts. The winning artwork will be woven into performances and artistic displays worldwide, including major events such as the 19th International Academy of Astronautics’ Humans in Space Symposium in Germany and NASA’s '50 Years of Solar System Exploration' Celebration. The idea is to spread the artists’ messages to other young people and adults around the world.
Entries must be submitted by 15 November 2012. For further information and to take part, visit the Humans in Space website.
