EU-UNAWE Collaborates in a New Teacher Training Programme in Portugal
23 January 2012

A new training programme has been introduced to help educators in Portugal to bring astronomy into the classroom.

The training sessions have been organised by the Galileo Teacher Training Program (GTTP), Núcleo Interactivo de Astronomia (NUCLIO) and UniSchoolLabS as part of the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme. Teacher training is an important goal of EU Universe Awareness and the organisation is therefore working in partnership with GTTP in one of the sessions, called Astronomy@MyBackPack.

The aim of Astronomy@MyBackPack is to show teachers the wealth of real scientific data that is available for free on the internet and how they can incorporate such resources into their curricula to excite and inspire children. Astronomy@MyBackPack will be held 10-15 September 2012 at Centro de Interpretação Ambiental da Pedra do Sal em São Pedro do Estoril, Portugal.

Please visit these European Commission and GTTP web pages for more information about the courses, how to register and deadlines.
