On August 2009, UNAWE Sri Lanka launched its first program to bring the wonders of the Universe to young children around the country. An astronomy program was held for Girl Guides at Holly Family Convent in Dehiwala.

About 50 girls and their teachers from grades 6 – 9 joined together for an evening full of exciting activities. The program started with an introduction to the night sky, followed by a hands-on session where the girls were guided on a journey to the night sky and learned how to use a star map in order to identify constellations and planets.

The evening was concluded with a group dinner where the girls could share more of their questions and enthusiasm with UNAWE Sril Lanka team.
