The Institute of Mathematical Sciences in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India hosted a 3-day workshop on UNAWE organised by the Tamil Nadu Science Forum in March 2007.
Participants from the TNSF and other science popularisation organisations as well as government representatives were brought together to discuss the implementation of UNAWE in the community of science popularization organisations in India.
A plan of action was devised to reach thousands of villages in rural Tamil Nadu. Material composing teams were organised to put together fun materials for the children. Many of those are based on existing materials developed by the TNSF in its 25-year existence. Those materials are characterised by of their low cost and efficiency. The experience in conceiving such materials benefits the entire UNAWE network.
